Our story

Born from a simple idea: never rush a child

Then

A small room on Linton Street

Ideal Play House began as a single prepared room with a handful of children, a set of wooden materials and one stubborn belief: that a child should never be rushed.

Now

500+ children and twenty guides

Four programmes, twenty-plus trained teachers and more than five hundred families - still small enough that every guide knows every child by name.

Next

Still doing it the same way

We grow carefully. New classrooms mean new guides trained the same way, and the same rule holds: the child leads, the adult follows.

Why families choose us

Six reasons parents trust us with their little ones

Everything below is what we actually do every day - not a brochure promise.

Nurturing Environment

Small groups, familiar faces and a calm room where a child is never lost in the crowd.

Holistic Development

Cognitive, physical, social, emotional and creative growth are planned together, not in silos.

Creative Expression

Art, music, dramatic play and storytelling every week - process over product, always.

Social Skills

Mixed-age classrooms where children learn to help, negotiate, wait and belong.

Safe & Secure

Secured premises and trained staff. Sign-in at the door, no unsupervised exits, ever.

Montessori Methods

Child-led, hands-on materials in prepared environments - the guide observes, the child works.

Our methodology

We follow the child, not the timetable

Montessori-inspired, play-based, and stubbornly unhurried.

Child-Led

Children choose their work and learn at their own pace. The guide follows the child, not a timetable.

Hands-On

Learning by doing. Abstract ideas arrive through materials a child can touch, move and repeat.

Holistic

The whole child matters - body, mind and heart together, never one at the expense of another.

“The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'”
- Maria Montessori

The classroom is a prepared environment

Every shelf, mat and material is placed at child height, in order, so a child can enter the room and decide for themselves what to do. Nothing is decorative. Everything has a place and a purpose - and when the work is finished, it goes back exactly where it was found.

Teachers are guides, not lecturers

A guide demonstrates once, steps back, and observes. They note which material a child reaches for, which one they avoid, and when to offer the next challenge - and when not to. The goal is a child who no longer needs the adult in the room.

Holistic development

Six pillars we grow together

A child is never just 'good at maths'. We plan for body, mind and heart at the same time, every week.

Cognitive

Thinking, reasoning and problem-solving grow through materials that invite curiosity rather than instruction.

  • Puzzles and logic games
  • Sensorial activities
  • Language materials
  • Math concepts

Emotional Intelligence

Children learn to name what they feel, manage big emotions and repair friendships on their own.

  • Feelings circles
  • Mindfulness
  • Conflict resolution
  • Self-expression

Social Skills

Mixed-age groups mean younger children are mentored and older children learn responsibility.

  • Group projects
  • Role-playing
  • Peer mentoring
  • Community building

Physical

Bodies need room to run, climb, balance and stretch - indoors and out, every single day.

  • Outdoor games
  • Yoga and movement
  • Fine motor work
  • Sports

Creative Expression

There is no wrong colour. Children make, perform and invent until their ideas have a shape.

  • Visual arts
  • Music and rhythm
  • Dramatic play
  • Creative storytelling

Environmental Awareness

Caring for a seedling or a stray puppy teaches stewardship better than any poster can.

  • Gardening
  • Nature exploration
  • Recycling
  • Animal care

What we believe

Three words we plan every week around

Child-Led

Children choose their work and learn at their own pace. The guide follows the child, not a timetable.

Hands-On

Learning by doing. Abstract ideas arrive through materials a child can touch, move and repeat.

Holistic

The whole child matters - body, mind and heart together, never one at the expense of another.

Parent voices

What families say after a term

Real notes from real parents on Linton Street and around Santoshpur.

“My daughter Ananya used to cling to me at drop-off. Within two weeks she was walking in by herself, waving goodbye. The teachers here truly understand children.”
PSPriya SharmaParent of Ananya, 4
“Arjun now narrates his whole day at dinner - what he poured, what he built, who he helped. That kind of confidence does not come from worksheets.”
RKRajesh KumarParent of Arjun, 5
“Both my children study here, and the teachers know each of them separately. Riya is quiet and Rohan is loud - they are never compared with each other.”
SPSneha PatelParent of Riya & Rohan, 3
“The balance of play and structure is exactly what I was looking for. Kabir is ready for Class 1 without ever having felt like he was crammed.”
AVAmit VermaParent of Kabir, 5
